What is Reflexology?
Originating as early as 4000 BC (same time as Acupuncture), it was also in used in Egypt around 2330 BC, as shown in detailed wall paintings. It's modern origins trace back to 1917, when an American physician named Dr. William Fitzgerald popularized “zone therapy”. His theory suggests that reflex areas of the feet correspond to and affect other parts of the body, and that stimulation of specific zones can unblock and increase the flow of vital energy to various parts of the body within the same zone, promoting healing. Gentle massage of the feet, followed by pressure to selected reflex points can help relieve stress, allergy symptoms, back pain, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.
