Summer harvest

Greetings!

We hope you are enjoying these cool sunny days and everything fall has to offer. The harvest time of the year brings us many fresh fruits and vegetables from our gardens and farmer’s markets. Fall is also an ideal time for walking and biking outside (no bugs or humidity!) and enjoying the fall colors.

Many of us have gotten our children back to school, and are settling in with our own fall schedules. We are taking care of ourselves now and getting ready for the winter ahead.

We invite you to come in this fall for a body tune-up and get your mind and body relaxed and ready for the months ahead – you’ll be glad you did! If you haven’t visited our new center yet, here is a sneak preview, check out our photo tour. We are very pleased with our new facility, which offers good parking and is handicap accessible, and are confident you will enjoy it as well. We are scheduling fall appointments now, so if you need to relax, get some pain relief, or want that overall feeling of well-being, give us a call. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Healing Arts at the annual Senior’s Picnic in Northville

Seniors and Massage

September 14th found Healing Arts at the annual Senior’s Picnic in Northville (sponsored by the Plymouth Council on Aging) offering free Chair Massage to eager Seniors. What a fun-loving, young-at-heart group of people! We had a waiting line and gave over 30 chair massages in 3 hours! We also raffled off a Massage Gift Certificate to lucky winner 95 year-old Hilda Lister. Celeste Hamilton, owner/massage therapist and Tara Harper, Healing Arts new receptionist, worked this event.

Massage is beneficial for everyone, but especially for the elderly with their many aches, pains and health challenges. Some of the benefits include:

  • Pain relief for sore, achy muscles and joints
  • Increased circulation, reduced swelling and inflammation
  • Nurturing, healing touch
  • Relief from stress, lowered blood pressure
  • Faster healing from injuries, surgery, and exercise
  • More restful sleep, easier breathing
  • Improved posture and coordination, and increased vitality and mental alertness

Do something nice for yourself or that special Senior in your life, come on in for a relaxing, therapeutic massage.

Massage for Care Givers

Being a caregiver is no easy job! It’s been said that raising children prepares us for caring for elder family members, which may be true in some respects. Yet many middle-aged people still have much stress dealing with the many challenges of care giving, and can benefit from the stress and pain relief that massage can offer.

Some caregivers become overwhelmed with all of the responsibilities, where it may start to affect their own health. Maintaining good health and a positive attitude is essential for caregivers, for if the caregiver becomes unable, then who will take over?

There are some good in-home care services available when you need a little assistance. They provide many services, including personal care and companionship services – everything from bathing, feeding and grooming to meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping and more. One that I recommend is Comfort Keepers, a few doors down from us at Healing Arts. Check out their services: www.comfortkeepers.com

Seasonal Changes and Natural Solutions

As temperatures drop and become cold and wet, our bodies have to adapt to the external environmental changes. Often times this can cause symptoms such as colds, sinus congestion, dry cough, achy muscles and bones. It’s a perfect time for a body cleanse when seasons are changing. Cleansing periodically helps rid the body of toxic build-up that can lower resistance, thereby boosting the immune system.

Other helpful fall supplements include herbal formulas for allergies, bronchial irritation and sinus congestion. Check out our all-natural formulas at at our online store.

If you feel uncertain about which cleanses and herbal formulas may work best for you, schedule a Nutritional Consultation with Celeste. Special price -- $45 for a half hour during October only.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
